Gift Ideas For Your Loved One In Assisted Living
With all that is going on in the world, the holidays are a precarious time for many families. While there is hope on the horizon, specifically for senior living communities like Hampton Manor, with the new COVID-19 vaccine most families will still have to be apart this Christmas and Holiday season.
On top of that, gift giving for your elderly parents, grandparents, or loved ones can be tough! So Hampton Manor has compiled a few ideas of gifts for your loved one, whether they are close by or far away!
- Flowers: This is the easiest, socially distant, gift you can give! Have a special flower arrangement or wreath delivered to your loved one- It will give spice up their living space and remind them of you every time they see it! Make sure to include a card so they know who the flowers are from, our residents love to display the cards they receive from family and friends. When sending flowers, we encourage you to find a local shop to support small businesses!
- Digital Picture Frames: These became popular a few years ago, and we love the idea! Preload some of your family photos onto a digital picture frame so your loved one can have photos of all their friends and family. As many of our residents downsized when moving into an assisted living home, they do not have as much space to display all of their pictures; so, this is the perfect fix! Some of these frames even allow for you to update the photo’s from far away and add messages to send to your loved one.
- Subscription Boxes: This idea allows for the gift giving process to continue all year long. You can find a subscription box for any hobby these days, whether it be knitting, puzzles, beauty, or even underwear! These boxes send your loved one a surprise each month filled with things they love.
- Comfort items: There is nothing like waking up Christmas morning and getting bundled up in fresh pajamas or a new cozy blanket. Continue to make your loved one feel at home while you’re far away by maintaining traditions and sending your love! Try a heated or weighted throw blanket- or a personalized blanket with your family photo on it!
The golden rule is to make it thoughtful and personal! Being far away can be tough during the holidays, so a reminder of your love is always enough. No matter what idea you come up with for your loved one, just knowing you thought of them will bring them joy!
We hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and a happy new year!
